A Starter Grant Award will fund up to £40,000 over 1-2 years for research costs, to support clinical lecturers to pursue their research work and gather data to strengthen their application for longer-term fellowships and funding.
In addition, awardees will have access to the Academy of Medical Sciences' mentoring and professional development programmes in order to enhance their standing as an independent investigator.
Applicants should have already obtained their PhD or MD, hold a medical, dental or veterinary undergraduate degree and be registered with the General Medical Council, General Dental Council or Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and hold a clinical contract at a UK institution. There are two funding rounds each year with closing dates in March and September.
